The Erie Canal is rightfully called the "Canal that built America". The canal was instumental in many social and economic developments of our nation, as well as the key player in Expansionist America. We are blessed in New York State: The canal is still operational and many of the communities that sprung up along its path have preserved historically accurate sections of the original canal. Camillus, NY is one of those communities and the painting scene above can stilll be seen from either walking the old tow path or taking the seasonal boat trip.
